You won’t believe the wine stolen at this Boston-area grocery store

Shoplifting seems like something of the past these days, since just about everything over $2 has one of those little scanners on it to prevent you from lifting it on the shelf.

Buying a damn razor nearly requires a government security clearance.

So it’s a mystery as to how a couple was able to shoplift $14,000 worth of wine from a Chestnut Hill (Boston-area) Wegman’s store over a two-day period.

You’d think that’s about 1400 bottles, right? Average 10 bucks a pop?

You’d be terribly wrong.

Two of the stolen bottles taken on June 12 and June 13 were 2006 Mouton Rothschild, called “one of the world’s greatest wines” by Wine.com, according to ABC affiliate WCVB. Newtown police said the bottles were priced at $1,399.99.

I don’t care who these thieves are—they have exceptional taste.

Chateau Rothschild is to wine lovers what a Bugatti is to car lovers.

Exceptional.  Unattainable.

also, French

Remember, this took place over two days.  Which means they had to come back and risk clinking a bunch of bottles out the door.

Police were called to Wegman’s again in June 18 when two more bottles of wine — a $309 bottle and a $160 bottle – were reported stolen, Lt. Bruce Apotheker told ABC News. The police said the same individuals are suspected of that theft.

No two buck Chuck for these five finger discounters.

It’s not like they backed up a truck to the loading dock and started taking cases of wines.

In fact, it looks like they probably just brought a large purse–and a huge, brass set of balls.
